Ring is the company that manufactures these doorbells which have different versions.

How to Install Ring Video Doorbell 2?

It has never been so easy to install a security product on your own with these simple steps mentioned below.

1. Charging the battery

Whenever you buy a new product it is recommended to get the battery charged at least to 99% to have proper health of the battery.

You can use the device without charging device battery also, but it is recommended from the company’s side to at least get your battery charged before using Video Doorbell 2 for the first time.

Indication of getting the battery charged is the light will turn green and stop blinking if the device is charged. If it is in low battery mode, the colour of the light will be in red.

2. Download the Ring application on your phone

While charging your battery, you should make yourself ready for the next phase of installation of Ring Video Doorbell 2.

For this, you need to download the Ring application for Video Doorbell 2 on your smartphone having an Android or iOS operating system.

You can easily find and download the application from the play store or app store depending on the operating system you are using.

You also need to connect your video doorbell 2 to your application.

The process is very easy, you just have to open the application, create an account, select Ring Video Doorbell 2 and follow in-app instructions and you are done with application settings.

3. Install Battery in the Ring Video Doorbell 2

After installation of the application and charging the battery it is now time to power on your Video Doorbell and configure it with your application.

For this, insert the battery that you have charged earlier and press the button present to the upper side of the doorbell and wait for the video doorbell to get started.

After it powers on, go to your phone setting and select Ring Wi-Fi network.

Return back to your Ring application and connect to your local Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and connect.

Your video doorbell is now online and ready to be mounted on the wall.

4. Configure the application

After you are done connecting your video doorbell to your phone, your next step is to configure as to where you are going to mount or install the device.

You can set the location in the application as to where you will be installing the doorbell.

It comes with the options of Front Door, Back Door, Office, or Custom (where you make and choose your own area). Press set-up button and your video doorbell are configured.

Additional app configuration:

You can grant permission to your family members or your friends so that they also be able to see the notification and live views of the camera.

5. Turn off your power to avoid short circuits

It is recommended to turn off the power at least of your current doorbell to protect the wiring from short-circuiting and to avoid any harm to yourself.

6. Mounting Video Doorbell on the Wall

Now comes the toughest part of mounting the doorbell. It needs to be mounted at such a location so that it can capture the maximum of the area where you are installing the device.

In the package, you get everything including a drill, screwdriver, screw, wires, and nuts to mount and fix the doorbell.

If you have a doorbell previously installed, you can use its wiring after removing the previous doorbell.

Sometimes it may happen that drill holes of the previous doorbell are not suitable for your newly video doorbell, in this case, you need to take a good measure as to where the holes are to be drilled.

After drilling the holes and before mounting it on the wall you must check the voltage with the help of multimeter to protect your doorbell from getting damaged.

The voltage should be between 8-24 volts in AC connection as this is the most standard doorbell installation voltages.

After mounting it on the wall, it is time to give it a final touch-up with the faceplates.

The Ring Video Doorbell 2 package includes a satin nickel and a Venetian faceplate.

They both can be interchanged and used according to your preference.

7. Installing the diodes

This is an optional part of the installation. Use it only when you know your previous doorbell was digital.

If your previous doorbell is mechanical do not try to install the diodes as it can damage your Ring Video Doorbell 2.

Now, how to know if your doorbell is mechanical or digital. It is simple if your doorbell plays so melodious tune, it is the digital doorbell, else it is mechanical. 

8. Give Power to Your Doorbell

Ensuring the faceplate is fitted correctly and all wires are joined, it is time to give power to your doorbell. Turn on the doorbell switch and see it getting started.

Congratulations, you have set up your Ring Video Doorbell 2 and you are now protected from any intruder or outside person.
